Common questions
What does my lawyer do when I sell?
Prepares the transfer documents, arranges payout and discharge of your mortgage, calculates adjustments, deals with the buyer's lawyer, and makes sure the sale proceeds reach you after closing.
When do I receive the money from my sale?
Normally on the closing date, once the transfer is registered and your mortgage and any other amounts owing are paid out. Your lawyer explains the timing for your closing.
What if I am buying another home at the same time?
It is common, and the two closings need to be lined up. Because your realtor, mortgage agent and lawyer share one timeline, we can plan the dates together.
What documents do I need to provide?
Photo ID, the signed Agreement of Purchase and Sale, your mortgage and lender details for the payout, and any information about tenants or items that stay with the property. The list on this page has more.
