Ontario's rental rules matter
Rentals in Ontario are governed by the Residential Tenancies Act, and disputes go to the Landlord and Tenant Board. The rules on rent increases, deposits, notice and ending a tenancy apply whatever a lease says.

Common questions
Do I need a realtor to rent a home?
No, but a realtor can help you find suitable listings, book viewings and understand a lease before you sign it. Landlords can also use one to price, advertise and show a property.
What lease is used in Ontario?
Most residential tenancies in Ontario use the province's Standard Lease. It sets out the basics, and the Residential Tenancies Act applies whatever a lease says.
Can a landlord ask for anything they like on an application?
No. Ontario rules limit what a landlord can ask for and how it is used. For example, in Ontario a landlord can ask for a rent deposit of up to one month's rent, but not for a damage deposit.
Who pays any fee?
That depends on the agreement. Whatever the arrangement, it should be agreed in writing before work starts. Ask us when you get in touch.
